Deep East - Thursday June 20 - with MossMoss (As You Like It) / M.O.D. (Strategik) / Nackt (Deep East)
3411 MacArthur Blvd, Oakland, CA | 9PM - 2AM, No Cover
In the past few months we’ve brought out some of the best local DJ talent to the unassuming Lounge 3411 in East Oakland. Chris Lum and Homero Espinosa from Moulton Music, Ethan Miller from FnF, and Brian Knarfield from DTE, just to name a couple. In just a few short months, we’ve gone from scrambling to book DJs one week in advance, to now booking out 3 months ahead. Our great vibe is all thanks to the warm crowd of regulars, eager to dance and hang out, coupled with the talented DJs we are honored to have play for us each week.
I’m particularly excited about June 20 because we are featuring one of my favorite local DJs, MossMoss. Part of what is so exciting about the Deep East party for me is booking local DJs that often open up for big international artists, and give them a chance to headline! I love seeing MossMoss warm up a crowd (his opening set for Scuba was spot-on), but I’m really looking forward to hearing how he’ll take the dance floor up as the headline DJ!
Nackt DJ set from the Techangle after-party @ Riddim in Oakland, 6-8-2013. Very fun to branch out and DJ heavier Techno than I usually play. Deep and dark techno balanced out with some bass-heavy tech-house for good measure. Was a treat to hear these tunes on the Turbosound system at Riddim! Thanks to Techangle for having me out!
1) George Fitzgerald - Thinking of You
2) Them Jeans - Vowel Play
3) Paleman - Half Out
4) GoldFFinch - 828
5) Alfie - The Testament
6) Robert Babicz - Astor (Gui Boratto)
7) Bobby Champs - Bureau
8) Malente and Zero Cash - Jail Babe
9) Four Tet - For These Times

Deep East - Thursday May 16 we’re honored to welcome as a guest, one of Chris Lum’s Moulton Music label-mates, Homero Espinosa! With support from another one of my favorite local DJs, Zoz!
Homero Espinosa is something of a local legend, beginning his career in the Bay Area in the early 90’s as a DJ and promoter. His original productions have received support from Miguel Migs, DJ Heather, and his tunes have been featured on Mark Farina’s Fabric and Ministry of Sound mixes! Homero’s record label, Yerba Buena Discos, has released countless classic House tunes, and he is also now part of the Moulton Music family with label mates Allen Craig and Chris Lum, to name a few. Homero Espinosa is a true House head, and his excellent selection as a DJ will surely get the room jumping!
Zoz (aka Evan McDonnell) is a vinyl technician that blew me away the first time I saw him DJ. It was a roof top renegade party that was set to go all night, and even in the bitter cold of a San Francisco winter, hundreds of feet in the air at 3am, Zoz was all smilies when he hit the stage. Perfectly happy to break his back lugging out crates of vinyl to keep us moving our feet, Zoz had that magic touch, knowing exactly what people wanted next, before they even knew themselves. His killer record collection is not to be missed!
It’s a pleasure to share the stage with these fine DJs, I can’t wait for May 16 to come already! Huge thanks to Homero Espinosa and Zoz for coming to play, Yesim and Sandrita for cooking, Tomas Hidalgo for taking photos, and most of all YOU for coming out and dancing!
